To mark the anniversary, the 61-year-old store owner set out some cupcakes and drinks to thank his customers.

But just when it seemed like no one would come, a woman named Kayla Jackson, 23, happened to stop by.

Her husband works security in the same shopping center, and when she walked into the store that morning, she saw Dave sitting alone behind a small table. She asked him what the celebration was for.

He told me it was the store’s 35th anniversary,” Kayla said. “And that I was the first person who had come in. He looked sad because he didn’t expect the day to be this slow.

Feeling sad for him, she snapped a photo and shared it on Twitter with a simple message:

“This is Dave. He owns Sunrise Health in Fresno, CA. Today is his store’s 35th anniversary and he was expecting people to come in. he bought cupcakes, soda & decorations and… no one showed up. I just got her and he brought everything out to celebrate. Can we get him some recognition?”

That tweet quickly spread.

People started sharing it in Facebook groups, local pages, and across social media. It didn’t take long before people began showing up at Dave’s store - some were locals, some were strangers who had seen the post online.

They started coming in, from nine in the morning until now. People were in the store shopping.” Dave said

One customer even brought him flowers. Another said, “We’re here because we didn’t want you to be alone on your big day.”

By the end of the day, the shop was full of happy faces.

Meanwhile, Kayla shared another update on her Twitter, melting the hearts of many on the internet.

Update: Dave is so happy we had some friends come over to the shop 💕😭 we are having cupcakes and smelling Essential Oils 🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Dave managed to sold past his $200 goal, and phone calls came in from all over - including Hawaii and Mexico.

Another update: someone who saw my post just called him and congratulated on his anniversary. Thank you everyone! He is so happy right now. We managed to get him to sell past his $200 sales goal for the day. Let’s get his business back up and running,” Kayla posted.

All it took was one person to notice.

He’s such a sweet old man and people take him for granted,” Kayla revealed

She saw Dave sitting there alone and chose to do something kind. That small act of simply caring enough to share someone’s story can change their entire day.
