Pizza Delivery Guy Gets Hugged by a Toddler at the Time When He’s Grieving for His Daughter

A hug hits different when it comes from toddlers, the way they come running towards you with open arms and a wide smile. It's almost as if they're saying, "Come have a free hug and shrug all your stress off your shoulders."

A pizza delivery guy was in a similar situation when his customer, Lindsey Sheely from Rhode Island, ordered a pizza on Feb 15, 2020, from her favorite restaurant, Wicked Good Pizza.

As he arrived at her porch to deliver, Lindsey's two-year-old son, Cohen, ran straight up to the delivery guy with his arms outstretched for a hug.

Although the parents found it funny and sweet, the gesture meant a lot more to the pizza delivery guy. When he saw Cohen running towards him, he leaned down to embrace his hug and told him, "Enjoy your pizza."

This sweet interaction was captured by Lindsey's doorbell camera, after which she decided to upload the footage on Facebook for others to see.

She wrote, "We thought it was so sweet and funny. I hope it gives you a laugh and warms your heart the way it did for us."

After posting, Lindsey received a message from someone named Ryan Catterson. He told her that he saw the video and that it was him who delivered her pizza that day.

Curious, Lindsey went on to his Facebook profile to see more about him. What she saw next left her stunned.

On his profile, she came across a GoFundMe page for the funeral expenses of Ryan's 16-year-old daughter, Alyssa, who had unexpectedly passed away just a week before.

Ryan then revealed to Lindsey, "After losing my daughter this past week, it touched me because it was like she was there. It really just meant a lot to me."

He also called Cohen's hug "a little blessing from God."

Lindsey shared that GoFundMe page on her profile, encouraging her friends and family to donate. She told NBC 10 News“I couldn’t believe that this guy was going through the most devastating thing, but his life was still going on. His life had to go forward, and he still had to work and do his job. You never know what people are going through. This is such a good example of that.”

On the surface, it may have looked like a two-second hug from Lindsey's son. But to Ryan, it meant the world, a reminder that his daughter was still there with him, letting him know that she loves him.
