“Google Awards You for Your First Search Phrase”? Truth Behind

Wouldn’t it be nice if Google gave you a little clap the first time you asked it a question?

In 2022, a TikTok video by Legbootlegit went viral, after he posted a few pictures of awards given out Google for being the ‘first person to Google the phrase.’

The post gained massive attention within just four months, racking up over 64,000 likes and inspiring many people to imagine they’d received a special prize from Google for their first search.

Naturally, the internet ran with it.

People watching laughed and commented, "Wait, Google actually does this?!" and "I wish I got that when I first searched for ‘cute puppies.’”

But here’s the reality check: Google doesn’t give out awards for your first search.

According to KnowYourMeme, the whole thing started as a joke. The creative guy is actually rather known to made up parody awards and products just for fun, and the internet ran wild with it.

Imagine a conversation like this:

“Hey, did you hear Google gives you a prize when you first search?”

“Really? Like a badge or something?”

“Yeah, some viral video showed it, but it’s just a meme. No actual prize.”

“Oh, bummer! But honestly, it’s fun to think about.”

But a Google spokesperson on Jan 25th, 2023 confirmed about the fake Google awards. He said,
“There’s no such award. In fact, 15 percent of searches we see every day are brand new.”

Even though the awards aren’t real, the whole thing shows how much people love the idea of getting recognized for something as simple as a first search.

It’s a fun reminder that sometimes, the internet is all about imagination and sharing a good laugh.
