Gerard McAliece had been suffering from one of the most severe cases of rhinophyma, a condition that causes the overgrowth of tissue around the nose. His nose had swollen so much that it covered his mouth and a large part of his face.

For years, Gerard felt self-conscious about his appearance as his nose continued to grow, though he tried to ignore it. But when his wife, Carol, realized he couldn’t even kiss her anymore because of his condition, she reached out to a private hospital - the Ever Clinic in Glasgow.
To her relief, the doctors responded, “Yes, we can help.”

Gerard underwent a four-hour procedure under anesthesia, during which the excess skin was removed and his nose reshaped to better suit his face.
The transformation has completely changed his life. “Carol says that I’m back to being the man I used to be. I’m now talking to people, going out for a pint, and enjoying meals in restaurants, things we haven’t done in years,” Gerard said.
