Elizabeth Christensen was recently divorced and a mom of two young kids when she logged into a dating app, Hinge on April 2023. Shortly after, she got matched with a man named Joshua Colbert and they started talking.
During their initial conversations, when they were ‘getting to know each other’ the couple realized that they were born on the same day at the same place at Mercy Hospital in Minnesota, just six hours apart. The more questions Elizabeth asked him, about where he grew up, and about his life, the more shocked she was. She soon found out that they could be in the same class, as they both graduated in 1995 from Northside Christian School.

To confirm her theory, Elizabeth’s mother dug out an old video of her kindergarten graduation. She zoomed in on Joshua in the video, and the couple were shocked seeing that. That moment led them to believe that it was no chance encounter. Rather, there was an element of ‘divine intervention’ that brought them together after all these years.
Elizabeth and Joshua had both previously been married and divorced to their ex-partners. It was an unhappy marriage and they had given up, when they saw their lives turning around.
“We were in a dark place going through divorces, but that’s usually when we’ve seen God really work in our lives,” said the couple.
Before proposing to Elizabeth, Joshua asked her dad for her hand in marriage. And he said yes. Five months into their dating, the couple tied the knot on their 35th birthday.

What’s more interesting is that the couple hunted their kindergarten teacher down and invited her at their wedding. And she showed up with a photo of the couple on a track and field day together.
The couple’s story continue to remind others of the divine intervention brought them together, and inspire those who are searching for hope.
