4-year-old girl responds to being called ‘ugly’ at school.

When a mother named Sonya, asked her 4-year-old Cici, “How her day was at school,” she replied, “A little boy said I look ugly.” “And what did you say?” asked the mother, and Cici replied, “I said, ‘I didn’t come here to make a fashion statement. I came here to learn, not look pretty!’ And the little boy said I look bad, and I said, ‘Did you look in the mirror lately? Bye-bye, see you later, you’re making me mad!’”

The little girl surely got her priorities straight. While the boy attempted to drag her down, she manages to tackle his criticism—gracefully, unbothered, and dismissive. And the internet praises her over her mother’s Facebook and Youtube video, that quickly gathered 1.7 million views.

People spend too much time analysing a highly critical or emotionally unavailable person, and not enough time walking away from them. But just like the little girl, you can handle it gracefully by choosing to channel your energy into people and values that matter to you. And if you don’t know how to respond, then walking away from them is all it takes to turn tables around.
