Best friends since the age of 11, move into a care home together at 89.

For Olive, who is now a great-grandmother in her house, started feeling depressed when her best-friend, Kathleen, move away from her, into a care home. All their lives, they have lived close to each other, with just a 10-minute walk away. Whenever Olive would be in trouble, she would go to Kathleen, and both of them would end up forgetting about their worries. But now that she is away, Olive reached a point to do something about it. She thought to herself, ‘Why don’t I move in too?’

She packed her bags and moved in with her best friend in a care home called ‘Berry Hill Park.’ And they went back to having ‘good old days’ all over again. Both of them also have their own rooms on the same floor of the facility. They would never stop chatting and are always giggling, therefore benefitting both of their happiness and wellbeing. The duo, who are also widows, have decided to spend the rest of their time on earth, next to each other, as BFFs.

"We knew we would always be friends when we met. She means a lot to me. If Olive goes first she'll come back to fetch me," said Kathleen. "We're going to be friends in heaven."

Olive’s unusual decision to move in with her best-friend is endearing and shows us that having a friendship full of giggles and gossip is a blessing to cherish forever, just as they did for eight whole decades. But if you take their advice for keeping a friendship alive for that long? “Put yourself out and go and see your friend," says Kathleen. "Don't always wait for them to come and see you. It takes two to tango."
