Couple who sheltered the homeless and made him part of their family for next 45 years.

In 1975, a Cardiff couple in their 20s found a homeless autistic man with a frozen chicken in his hand, when they invited him home. He thought he was going to stay just for Christmas. Instead, he soon became a part of their family and went on to stay for the next 45 years, until the day he passed away.

The young couple were married for just four years when the homeless man named Ronnie came into their lives and "enriched it" to a point where they didn't know what they'd do without him.

The couple, now Rob, 77 and Dianne, 76, had planned for him to stay until the next day of Christmas. But when the day came, they couldn't bring themselves to work on their thought. So they sought advice from the authorities who told them that Ronnie would need a home address in order to get a job.

As the couple got to know Ronnie more, they started to love him. They helped him get a job as a waste collector. They didn't have kids of their own at the time, so being with Ronnie made them feel happy.

They went on to have two children and five grandchildren, with Ronnie living with them for the next 45 years, until the day he passed away.
