Man, 56, spends 27 years walking across the globe and has become the first person to walk 30,000 miles without any transport.

While initially he intended to complete his journey within eight years, it took him much longer become of obstacles that came along the way, like fighting the polar bears and swimming the Caspian Sea, depicting his ‘never-give-up’ attitude that many people have now come to learn through the modern age of internet.

Social media didn't even exist back then when Karl began the walk but he has recently launched a TikTok and already has more than 350,000 followers interested in his journey. Karl could simply share a ‘buy-me-a-coffee’ link for his followers to support and fund his journey. But back in his days, times were much harder as he had no means of seeking financial support, therefore testing his survival skills over and over again during his world trip.

To help fund himself, he would find ways like publishing his first book in 2007, ‘Giant Steps’ talking about his journey up to crossing the Bering Strait into Russia. But that could only do so much in bringing him a steady revenue. At the end of the day, Karl found himself still reliant on lending money from friends and sponsorship.

Given the money problems, Karl would feed himself by ‘picking up’ whatever stuff that came along the side of the road. But now he is able to afford the luxury to pick food from small shops and gas stations based in the remote parts of Romania.

Karl currently has only 2,000 miles remaining now and should return home to Hull by the end of next year. Karl recently said he hopes to focus on teaching STEM for the remainder of his life.
