Scottish man who decided to go without food for 382 days.

In 1965,  a 27 year-old Scottish man was sick of being obese. So he decided to go without food for 382 days to lose some weight. He lived on just tea, coffee, and pooped once in 48 days. By 1966, he went down from 207 kg to 82 kg., setting a world record for having the longest fast in history.

Angus Barbieri used to frequent his father's fish and chips shop to have his meals daily. However, his weight became an unnoticeable factor, as he would require assistance to perform even the tiniest tasks of his routine. Like having a group of people to push or pull him through the door of the bus.

So in 1939, he made a decision to lose some weight, as he was approaching 456 pounds (207kg). The doctors were initially planning on a short weight loss plan, but because Angus had adapted to his new routine, he wanted to continue, until he reached his ideal weight of 180 pounds.

As anyone would expect, Angus indeed quit frequenting his father's fish and chips store. He quit consuming sugary snacks. He quit fast-food beverages. His food was now limited to having just tea, coffee, vitamins, electrolytes, and unspecified amounts of yeast.

As surprising as it sounds, he would only poop once in 48 days. Perhaps it balances out, given his food consumption had now reached bare minimum.

Angus was happy with his new routine and didn't fall into temptations. He had gotten a bit too adjusted to his food plan. He had also forgotten what food tasted like. He completely lost the desire to have food.

His hard work paid off when Angus visited the doctor after 385 days and tested for his weight that had went down from 456 pounds (207 kg) to 180 pounds (82kg).

By the time he broke the records for longest fast, he became totally unrecognizable. The extra skin around his cheeks, hands, and thighs seemed to have vanished, impressing everyone (including the doctors) who followed his journey.

With time, Angus maintained his weight, got married and had two sons.
