3ft school teacher who struggled from constant stares by her students because of her rare dwarfism.

Meghan Grannan, 26, was born with a rare dwarfism called Metatropic Dysplasia. The moment she walked into a kindergarten classroom, all she would receive from her students were stares, disrespect, and disobedience. She would struggle with establishing authority in the classroom, given that the kids were taller than her.

So she decided to create her own lesson, ‘Celebrating our differences,’ to educate the children and satisfy their curiosity. But most of all, to spread an important value of looking at what’s on the inside rather than the outside.

She would prompt her students to practice looking at their peers and pointing out differences, like hair color, eyes, and more. She would then encourage them to talk about what makes their peers different and how it is ‘OK’ to be different. At the end of the lesson, she would have several students sharing different pictures and stories on how the world can be beautiful with different people in it.

Meghan’s story is an example of a ‘never give up’ attitude that can change and inspire the world, reflecting on what truly matters at the end of the day.
